Vietnam’s Next Investment Landmark for Expats and Global Business
Vietnam’s luxury real estate market is stepping onto the global stage — and the proposed Trump Tower in Ho Chi Minh City is leading the way.
More than just a real estate headline, this billion-dollar project reflects a new chapter in U.S.–Vietnam relations, with high-level trade agreements, major foreign investments, and long-term cooperation coming into focus.
A Tower, a Trade Deal, and a Statement of Intent
On July 2nd, 2025, Donald Trump and Vietnamese leader Tô Lâm struck a strategic trade agreement:
U.S. tariffs on Vietnamese exports reduced from 46% to 20%
0% tariffs granted for U.S. goods entering Vietnam
A new 40% tariff on transshipped goods (mainly Chinese-made items re-exported via Vietnam)
This deal came just ahead of the deadline for Trump’s global tariff ultimatum, which saw 12 countries — including Vietnam — receive official "tariff warning letters."
Vietnam responded swiftly, unlocking a broader economic opening that paves the way for large-scale U.S. investment, including the Trump Tower.
The Trump Tower Vietnam: What We Know So Far
Backed by the Trump Organization and Vietnam’s Kinh Bac City (KBC), this landmark project is expected to include:
A 60+ floor skyscraper with residential, hotel, and retail spaces
Premium design, five-star services, and international brand standards
A strategic location in Thủ Thiêm, HCMC’s emerging financial and smart city district
Estimated investment: $1 billion USD, with potential to exceed that figure depending on height approval
Construction could begin as early as 2026, with legal groundwork currently in progress. Eric Trump visited Vietnam in May 2025 to meet local officials and scout the site, signaling strong commitment.
Why Thủ Thiêm?
Often referred to as the “future Manhattan of Saigon,” Thủ Thiêm is one of the most ambitious urban developments in Southeast Asia:
Smart infrastructure
Green urban planning
Financial hubs and international institutions
It’s already attracting high-net-worth expats and top-tier global investors — and Trump Tower would add a powerful symbol of global luxury and long-term confidence.
KBC: The Local Powerhouse Behind the Project
Kinh Bac City is one of Vietnam’s largest urban developers. In 2025 alone:
Revenue: 3,100+ billion VND
Net profit: 1,124 billion VND
KBC is also partnering with the Trump Organization on a $1.5 billion golf and resort complex in Hung Yen Province, launched during Eric Trump’s May visit.
Their role in both projects confirms a strategic U.S.–Vietnam business alliance that’s reshaping the region’s investment narrative.
What It Means for Expats and International Investors
This isn’t just about a tower — it’s a signal:
Vietnam is open to long-term global partnerships
The luxury lifestyle is going international and fast-evolving
Real estate, infrastructure, and tourism are set for a new investment wave
