One day excursion to discover the islands of Phu Quoc

During our trip to Phu Quoc, we decided to take a day trip to discover three islands and snorkel.

We chose the company Jonh's tour to make this excursion.

This company offers different types of tours to do in Phu Quoc.

We chose the Trip n°3 presented on the site.

We booked the day before for the next day: it is possible to book by phone or email.

Here is how the day is organized:

  • 8:15 am or 8:30 am: the bus picked us up at the resort reception. The pick-up is free in some hotels or resorts. You still have to be careful because some hotels are not taken into account.

  • 9 am: arrival at the port to take the boat, direction the 3 most popular islands of the South of Phu Quoc.

  • 10:30 a.m.: after about an hour and a half on the boat, we arrived at the first snorkeling spot: the island of Gam Ghi. This island, located about ten kilometers from the coast, is considered one of the most beautiful snorkeling spots. We were able to swim for about thirty minutes with the fish in the middle of the reef. The equipment (fins, masks and survival vest) is provided by the company directly - no need to have your own equipment.

  • 11am: departure for the second island: Buom Island This second snorkeling spot is different. The water is clearer, there are fewer fish and the reefs are less beautiful than on the first island. We swam again for about twenty minutes.

These two islands are part of the An Thoi archipelago. It is a group of 15 beautiful islands located south of Phu Quoc.

The islands are beautiful with pristine white sand beaches, palm trees and an underwater world. In addition to this, there are fish farms and a coral replanting program on Hon Dua, night squid fishing on Hon Roi and a small family restaurant on Hon Mai Rut, where you can also camp and apnea.

  • 1 p.m.: lunch prepared by the crew. We had the right to a totally Vietnamese meal with different traditional dishes: prawns, pho, ga luc lak, octopus salad...

  • 2 p.m.: end of the meal and heading to the third and last island of the tour: May Rut Trong. It is also part of the An Thoi archipelago. We had about an hour of free time to enjoy the beach. It is a very tourist spot where it is possible to have your photos taken on swings or in a hammock by the water. Personally, it was not my favorite moment of the day.

  • 3 p.m.: return to the boat towards the port. The trip took about an hour.

  • 4 p.m.: arrival at the port of An Thoi.

  • 4:45 p.m./5 p.m.: return to the hotel.

This tour cost $29 per person.

I think it's a good price when you have both the pick-up at the hotel, the meal, the loan of equipment...

We can only recommend this tour.
